30 Years of Great Experience – IMA
By Matthew Yau

.IMA Director Petra Lassahn states the fresh design will give IMA a totally new and colourful appearance to the hall.

IMA is the only trade show in Germany for the amusement industry and presents a growing number of internationally produced amusement machines.  As the annual meeting point of the industry, IMA is a must-attend event for manufacturers, resellers and users.  Once a year the family of the amusement industry meets in Dsseldorf and guarantees to meet the right people and to develop business.

IMA 2011 with a new hall layout

IMA continues to grow.  Two months before the International Trade Fair for Amusement and Vending Machines is due to start, its exhibition space has already reached 2010 levels.  A net surface area of almost 12,000 sqm has been booked to date.  There are also some innovations in the hall layout.  It will take place on 18th~ 21st January, 2011, at Dsseldorf Exhibition Centre, Germany.
With layout changes for enlargement and improvements, IMA expect around 200 exhibitors and 9,000 trade visitors in 2011’s expo.

In order to meet the exhibitors’ wishes for changes and enlargement and to provide a clearer picture for visitors, the structure of occupied stands in Hall 8b will be changed for the next event.  Two additional diagonal aisles will then lead from the entrance directly into the hall, creating a star-shaped structure.  It is a small change with a great effect.  “This gives a totally new and colourful appearance to the hall.  We are looking forward to the new ideas the exhibitors will come up with, who will now have totally different possibilities to present themselves to the visitors due to the change in position,“ says IMA Director Petra Lassahn.  Another advantage is the fact that with the new layout, visitors will disperse more evenly throughout the hall and locate exhibitors more easily.

Core segments and new growth areas
Various amusement machines from all over the world will be displayed at IMA 2011.

For the 30th anniversary of IMA next year, the organizers, the association of the German vending and amusement machine industry (Verband der Deutschen Automatenindustrie e.V.) and the organization management of Reed Exhibitions Deutschland, expect around 200 exhibitors and 9,000 trade visitors.  In addition to established segments such as amusement machines with cash winning options, the entire range of electronic amusement, sports gaming machines, cash management systems and equipment concepts for modern arcades, the field of sports betting is proving a new growth area for IMA 2011.  Suppliers from this field will be more strongly represented at the fair.  Tipico Deutschland GmbH and CASHPOINT Agentur & IT Service GmbH, for instance, will again participate with a larger stand area.  First-time exhibitors from the betting segment at IMA 2011 will be Real Sportwetten GmbH, Betkick Sportwettenservice GmbH and Ploutos GmbH – Sportwetten (sports betting).

Structured range of products at IMA 2011

A number of special areas will help to better structure the extensive range available at IMA.  This will facilitate orientation on site especially for trade visitors coming to the fair to look for particular products or services.  Exhibitors have the opportunity to present their products in an appropriate environment.

The entire range of game machines will dazzle visitors.

A complete bowling alley right within the exhibition hall is the highlight of the “bowling world,” which will be part of IMA for the third time in 2011.  This as well as two smaller alleys invite visitors to have a game and to visit the bowling world.  Last year, some 500 IMA trade visitors already showed a particular interest in the bowling segment.  The resulting market opportunities attract an ever-growing number of companies from the bowling industry to the fair.  For the coming year, QubicaAMF, Hoops – The Bowling Company, Ahlborn Kegel- und Bowlingbahnbau, Kilian Systemtechnik, Billard Beckmann, Busch Billards and lighting and sound technology specialist Raum plus Schall, to name but a few, have booked a stand.  These exhibitors also present themselves in bowling talks.  Bowling competitions for exhibitors and visitors will also be offered on site.

As for all gastronomic operations, an extensive range of all types and variants of coffee specialties is a must for today’s arcades.  Modern hot beverage machines make this possible.  Therefore the world of coffee is also part of IMA which concentrates all such products in the “coffee world” for the first time in 2011.  The plan is to show the entire range of coffee products, machines and accessories here.

For the first time IMA 2011 will offer, in addition to its established portfolio, a spectrum of exhibitors covering services from the fields of credit card systems, insurances and facility management.  The special area created specifically for this purpose, the Service Solution Village, is the ideal platform to display complete products ranges and to cater for and provide extensive information to visitors in the pleasant atmosphere of a joint area.
